Oxford United Women Host Charlton in FA Cup Fifth Round

Womens Match Preview

Oxford United Women continue their Adobe Women’s FA Cup campaign on Sunday when they welcome Charlton Athletic to the MGroup Stadium (2pm kick off).

United’s route to the Fifth Round has seen them win on penalties at Hashtag United after a 1-1 draw, beat Luton Town 3-1, Plymouth Argyle 2-1, and Middlesbrough 3-1. They have also won eight of the last nine games, including Wednesday's 1-0 win over previously unbeaten AFC Bournemouth.

However, in Charlton they face their toughest task yet. The Addicks sit top of WSL 2 and are undefeated this season. Most recently, they drew with Ipswich Town on Wednesday night, but beat Durham 4-2 last Sunday and their run to the Fifth Round included a 10-0 win over Swindon Town, as well as a 3-2 win over Watford.

Both those games were at home, so their trip to Oxford is their first away game in the competition and is a repeat of the fourth-round tie in April 2021, when Charlton won 2-1.

This promises to be an entertaining encounter, with United playing some scintillating football of late as their confidence has grown. With over 600 tickets already sold, there is bound to be a great atmosphere, so if you haven’t got yours yet, you can buy them either at the turnstiles or online HERE.

Tickets cost £8 per adult; £4 for over-65s, Blue Light Card holders, and men’s season-ticket holders; Under-16s have free admission.

There is always a fantastic welcome at the MGroup Stadium, with a well-stocked bar and great food courtesy of Burnout BBQ. There will also be some exciting activities going on off the pitch to keep everyone entertained pre-match and at half time.

Come along and help cheer the girls on to a famous victory!
