Oxford United are pleased to have supported the Bradley Lowery Foundation and their Cancer Has No Colours campaign at this weekend’s match against Cambridge United.
The Bradley Lowery Foundation was founded back in 2017 after Bradley sadly passed away following a brave fight with childhood cancer. The charity aims to support families who are fundraising for treatment or equipment, which is not readily available or covered by the NHS. This includes all illnesses and conditions.
As September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the charity has started the campaign “Cancer Has No Colours”. The message is simple but powerful: it doesn’t matter which team you support – when it comes to fighting cancer, we stand united.
To support the campaign, Oxford United and Oxford United in the Community donated mascot places at this weekend’s match against Cambridge United to young patients receiving cancer care at the Oxford Children’s Hospital.
The children had a fantastic afternoon, filled with joy, as they met some of their favourite players and led the team out ahead of kick-off!
Jamie French from Oxford Hospitals Charity said: "We are always inspired by the youngsters we meet receiving cancer treatment in the Oxford Children’s Hospital, and feel sure that players and supporters will have been equally motivated and moved by these incredible children. Thank you for giving them such a special day at the match.”
