Oxford United will be supporting the EFL’s ‘Scan to Smile’ campaign at their home fixture against Birmingham City on Saturday 31 January.
‘Scan to Smile’ is one of the EFL’s key campaigns this season, offering a creative way to showcase the powerful impact of clubs’ community work. On matchday, supporters will be encouraged to scan QR codes displayed around the stadium, unlocking short, uplifting stories from local communities. The initiative is designed to lift spirits during the January blues and strengthen the connection between clubs and their supporters.
Oxford United in the Community, the Club’s official charity, continues to deliver a wide range of positive initiatives across the region, working with diverse community groups to make a meaningful difference.
As part of the campaign, Oxford United in the Community are highlighting Jackson, a Level 3 Year 2 student who has been ever-present in the Advanced Football Programme First Team this season. Jackson is also a qualified coach, assisting at holiday camps and coaching at Cumnor Minors.
Jackson credits the Advanced Football Programme with helping him to improve both his footballing ability and his social skills, while also enabling him to build friendships within his community.
On matchday against Birmingham City, Oxford United players will wear ‘Scan to Smile’ warm-up tops as well as concourse posters featuring a QR code. Supporters can scan the code to watch a video message from Jackson, sharing his story and how he has benefited from the positive work delivered by Oxford United in the Community.
