Oxford United were saddened to hear of the passing of former player, Hugh Curran, at the age of 82.
A former Scotland international, Hugh joined Oxford United for £50,000 from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1972 and went on to make 115 appearances, scoring 43 goals, over two spells throughout the 1970s.
Regarded as one of the greatest players in the Club's history, Hugh was United's leading scorer in both the 1972/73 and 73/74 seasons before a £40,000 move took him to Bolton Wanderers. He returned to the Manor Ground three years later before injury forced his retirement in 1979.
After hanging up his boots, Hugh spent his later years in Oxford, where he ran a number of pubs and businesses in the county, and remained an ardent supporter of the Club.
