Oxford United Proud To Celebrate International Women's Day

International Women's Day

Oxford United are proud to celebrate International Women’s Day to recognise the incredible contribution of women and highlight the importance of women’s equality.

This year’s theme ‘Accelerate Action’ outlines the crucial role we all play in achieving gender equality and the need to drive momentum in addressing systemic barriers.

To honour the day, the Club have launched a powerful video highlighting the incredible journey of our Women’s Team. Former player and now coach, Kath Faulkner, delivered a thought-provoking speech for the video to demonstrate her and the team’s pathway, from formation 20-years-ago, to now fighting to try and become a Championship side.

It comes on the weekend in which the Women’s Team have joined with Her Game Too for a special International Women’s Day fixture.

Coming together to celebrate women in football, United’s home tie against Exeter City on Sunday 9 March is set to be a day for all the family, with kick off at 2:00pm at MGroup Stadium.

The Club were one of the first in the UK to work together with Her Game Too, to help ensure all girls and women can feel confident and safe sharing their opinion about football, and Sunday's game is another important step in this.

Tickets for the game can be purchased online or at the gate on the day.

Online tickets can be purchased HERE.
