Oxford United are delighted to confirm the appointment of Liam Gilbert as Head Coach of the Women’s First Team.
Gilbert returns to the Club following a previous successful five-year spell in charge of Oxford United Women between 2018 and 2023. He brings extensive experience in the women’s game, most recently serving as Women’s Manager at Reading and Assistant Manager at Burnley.
Speaking about his return to the Club, Liam Gilbert said: “I’m incredibly proud to be returning to Oxford United. This Club means a great deal to me, and I’m excited to build on the strong foundations already in place.
“In the two years since I’ve been away from the Club, there has been a huge growth in professionalism and ambition. I am excited to get started as we look to take Oxford United forward.
“I am extremely committed to working with the players, staff, and wider Club to ensure we take the next steps together. I can’t wait to get started and to reconnect with the supporters.”
Oxford United’s Head of Football Development, Stevie Kinniburgh, said: “After a thorough and highly competitive recruitment process, we are very pleased to welcome Liam back to Oxford United.
“Having worked with Liam previously, we know exactly the standards, professionalism, and ambition he brings to the role. His understanding of the Club, coupled with the experience he has gained at Reading and Burnley, makes him the ideal person to lead our Women’s First Team.
“As we continue to drive the women’s programme forward, Liam’s leadership and vision will be invaluable in helping us achieve our ambitions this season and beyond.”
