Oxford United are delighted to announce Youth Academy graduate, Leo Snowden, has signed his first professional contract.

The exciting forward scored 35 goals for the Under-18s last season and now signs a new long-term deal to commit his future to the Club.

The 17-year-old is United’s youngest ever player, making his debut in November 2023 in a 5-0 victory over Chelsea Under 21s in the EFL Trophy.

Leo will now embark on pre-season with the First Team in Indonesia, as he tries to make the step towards Gary Rowett’s squad.

Speaking after signing his new deal, he said: “Every young footballer wants to receive their first contract. Now that this has been achieved, there is a lot of work to do to push on.

“This contract doesn’t mean I now have a career. I need to do everything I can to push myself to the next step.

“I want to get closer to the First Team and work as hard. The ambition is to make an appearance for the First Team in the next season, and I will be doing my best to show that I can be at the highest level possible.

“We had a really strong season last year, but the targets now get higher. I want to score more goals than I did previously and make the next steps forward with the Club.”

Ed Waldron, Head of Football, said: “Leo has been one of the standout performers in the Youth Academy over several years. He has developed well with each season, and we feel he has a bright future at the Club.

“Last season, Leo was in outstanding form. This contract reflects the work he has put in, now, we want to see if he can make an impact at senior level.

“He is a really professional young player, and we are excited to see how he develops.”
