Oxford United’s season may be over, but the summer of football continues for several of our international players.
Mark Harris, Greg Leigh, Ole Romeny and Marselino Ferdinan are all set to represent their national teams this month as they embark on World Cup Qualifiers.
Greg has just completed a two-game tournament with Jamaica held in Brentford, where he featured in a 3-2 win over Trinidad & Tobago. Now, Jamaica will take part in two World Cup Qualifiers against British Virgin Islands on 7 June, and Guatemala on 11 June.
That won’t be all for Greg, as six days later, Jamaica take part in the Concacaf Gold Cup in the United States. They have three group stage games against Guatemala, Guadeloupe, and Panama, and should they qualify out of the group will go into knockout football, with the final in early July. The Gold Cup pits the best of Central & North America against one another every two years.
Mark has been named in the Wales squad for their first World Cup Qualifiers of the qualification process. Wales host Liechtenstein at home on Friday night, before a big away trip to take on Belgium on Monday.
Finally, Ole and Marselino have two crucial World Cup Qualifiers for Indonesia. With just two games left in their qualifying stage and still with a chance of securing a play-off to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Indonesia has to get results as they take on China at home on Thursday, then finish with an away game at Japan on Tuesday.
Good luck to all of our United international players!
