Oxford United are delighted to announce Youth Academy graduate, Aidan Elliott-Wheeler, has signed an extended contract.
The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Gateshead United, having started the season as the captain of Oxford United’s Under-21 side.
Making his senior debut at just 17, the right-sided player will now continue his stay in Oxford, committing his future to the Club with a new deal extending beyond this season.
Speaking after signing, he said: “I’m really pleased to extend my stay here. This is my boyhood club and somewhere I’ve developed massively over the years.
“I’ve loved getting senior experience out on loan, and I’m focused on continuing to improve and coming back ready to compete and contribute. I’m grateful to the coaches and staff for their belief in me, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Head of Football Operations, Ed Waldron, added: “Aidan’s progression over the past few seasons has been excellent. He’s a player who has consistently demonstrated the right attitude and professionalism, both within our Academy and now out on loan in senior football.
“Captaining the Under-21s speaks volumes about his character and leadership qualities. His experience at Gateshead is proving invaluable, and we’re delighted to secure his future as we feel he has a bright future ahead of him.”
