LAST WORD: Negru on Wycombe

"It's the business end of the season so we take a point and move on"

Oxford United stretched their unbeaten run to five games with a battling 0-0 draw at Wycombe on Saturday.

“It’s a tough place to play and we usually struggle to get results when we come to Wycombe so in the end it’s a well-taken point even if we are disappointed not to take the win” defender Stephan Negru told iFollow. .”We missed a few chances to do that but it’s probably a good point and we move on to Tuesday night now.

“I enjoyed the battle. I’ve always thrived on that, ever since I was small. I like the physical games like today! I didn’t think Wycombe had many chances other than set-pieces.We dealt with their strengths pretty well and as a unit from front to back I thought we looked solid.

“I wanted to take my chance. You never know in football, it changes really quickly so you just have to keep your head down and be ready if you do get your opportunity. I work hard in training every day and like all of the squad when your chance is there you have to try to take it and show what you can do.

“We picked up a point and that’s five games unbeaten so that’s a good base point to build off of.

“We have two home games now so we have to come in on Monday, use this point as a starting point and try to get all three points on Tuesday night. We are at the business end of the season now so every point counts. The fans were brilliant, like they are every week. They are our 12th man and motivate us to fight for a goal or to keep a clean sheet. They help us massively and we will need them again for the two games this week.”
