22 April 2024

Oxford United's men's and women's squads were honored at the annual Player of the Year Awards, with Cameron Brannagan and Zoe Barratt scooping the top prizes.

Taking place at the University of Oxford's Examination Schools, Brannagan and Barratt scooped the top awards on the night as they grabbed the Supporters’ Player of the Year awards for their top performances throughout the campaign.

The event, sponsored by Pye Homes Blenheim, was attended by 340 people and hosted by Sky Sports presenter Jo Wilson who was joined by former Oxford United manager Mark Lawrenson as the guest speaker.

Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner as the awards were handed out, with a host of speakers entertaining the crowd including men’s and women’s team head coaches, Des Buckingham and Sam Rose.

When it came to the awards, nine were handed out as we celebrated the efforts and achievements of both squads.

The first awards of the evening was The Jack Casley Young Player of the Year Award sponsored by Smiths Bletchington, which was won by Tyler Goodrham for his outstanding performances in the men’s first-team.

Next up was the Golden Boot awards sponsored by Grundon Waste Management, with Mark Harris and Zoe Barratt taking the shoes home for their consistency in finding the back of the net.

Community Player of the Year sponsored by JBP went to Cameron Brannagan for his efforts in supporting a young season ticket holder suffering from a life-threatening condition.

The Mickey Lewis Club Person of the Year sponsored by Laughtons Luxury Toilet Hire & Ascot Structures went to Chief of Staff Claire Theobald for her commitment to the club.

The Joey Beauchamp Goals of the Season sponsored by Wellers was picked on the night by the guests and the men’s award went to Oisin Smyth for his stunning goal against Charlton, while Zoe Barratt won the women’s goal for her wonder goal against Plymouth Argyle.

Then it was into the prestigious awards of the night, starting off with the Men’s & Women’s Players’ Player of the Year sponsored by Textures Flooring.

On the men’s side, the players awarded their captain Elliott Moore for his fine consistency and leadership, while on the women’s side it was Kate Wiseman who got her hands on the honour.

Then it was the Supporter’s Player of the Year, first with the women’s award sponsored by Gregory Surveyors which went to Zoe Barratt for her third honour of the night.

Then in the men’s Andrew Knapton Supporters’ Player of the Year sponsored by Pye Homes Blenheim, Cameron Brannagan got his second award of the night as he was honoured by the fans.

Congratulations to all of our winners and a thank you to Pye Homes Blenheim for sponsoring the night, and to all our sponsors for their support.
