Oxford United moved up to third in the table with a 3-0 win at Fleetwood on Saturday that left Head Coach Liam Manning more than happy with his team’s efforts.

“It was a very enjoyable performance but the scary thing is you look at it and say ‘there are a hell of a lot of things we can do better” he told iFollow. “Today was about how we responded after a tough result against Port Vale and I thought we showed what we are about as a group.

“The variety of goals so far is important for us, not just relying on one player to get you 20 to 25 goals. Everyone needs to chip in and contribute and that was a good aspect of today’s game.

“The players deserve to take credit for what they did because this wasn’t an easy place to come considering the change of Manager, the travel- it took us seven hours on Friday afternoon and that does take it out of your legs - so I am delighted for them.

“The fans were incredible. It’s a nice moment to celebrate with them at the end- you can see now the connection between the fans and the players.

“It was a terrific win for those fans- the expense, the time to get up to the game, the commitment they showed. I’m delighted that we sent them home happy.”

United now have two home games this week. Ticket pricess are reduced for Tuesday night’s EFL Trophy game at home to MK Dons while Saturday sees league leaders Exeter City visit the Kassam Stadium.

Tickets are available right now for both games. Visit oufctickets.co.uk or call 01865 337533
