Oxford United Continue Her Game Too Support on Saturday

The U’s proud to dedicate Exeter game to tackle sexist abuse

21 September 2023

Oxford United are proud to dedicate our upcoming fixture against Exeter City on Saturday to the Her Game Too campaign tackling sexist abuse within football.

#HerGameToo was founded back in 2021 by 12 female supporters passionate about eradicating sexism in the football industry.

The aim is to ensure all girls and women, no matter their age, can feel confident and safe sharing their opinion about football both in stadiums and online without fear of sexist abuse. #HerGameToo also actively supports girls’ football at grassroots through fundraising and kit distribution.

Reporting
Reporting helps to create a culture of zero tolerance for sexist behaviour, which can lead to a more inclusive and respectful environment for everyone.

Volunteer
By volunteering, you can help them in a variety of ways, from raising awareness through social media to organising events and campaigns in your community.

Become a Patron
Becoming a patron for Her Game Too is a great way to support their efforts to donate kit and equipment to girls who are striving to progress in sports.

Having the partnership with #HerGameToo ensures that Oxford United remains committed to addressing the needs of its female players, fans, and staff and raises the profile of some of the challenges girls and women still face today.

Oxford United’s Her Game Too ambassador, Grace Bailey told us:

"Dedicating the game against Exeter to #Hergametoo brings awareness to this campaign and reaches more fans locally and nationally. The support the club have shown towards this campaign doesn't go unnoticed. Women of all ages should feel welcome and safe to talk or come to this brilliant sport.

“The work being done with #HerGameToo is incredible. They have partnered with over 71 of the 92 football league clubs. Even if the campaign helps one fan to feel more welcome in the football community, then we are doing a good job.”

Her Game Too can be found on Twitter and Instagram using the @HerGameToo handle, as well as on Facebook as ‘Her Game Too’.
