PREVIEW Wigan Athletic v Oxford United

Oxford United head for Wigan this evening in Sky Bet League 1 (7.45pm)

United have been excellent on the road so far with wins at Derby, Barnsley, Fleetwood and Stevenage and look to extend their six game unbeaten run in the league.

TEAM NEWS
United are likely to be without Cameron Brannagan for a second game with the influential midfielder struggling with illness. The former Liverpool man missed Saturday's draw with Blackpool and Liam Manning told us

"He's still struggling but Josh McEachran came in and did a really good job for us. Josh is a great pro and probably frustrated that he hasn't had as much game time as he would have liked but he also understands why with Cam and Marcus McGuane doing so well. Alex Gorrin has signed last week, Oisin Smyth is available after suspension so it shows the depth we have and the boys were really good in training on Monday so we will travel up to Wigan in good shape."

THE OPPOSITION
Wigan Boss Shaun Maloney is hoping his side carry on where they left off after a 2-0 win at Exeter at the weekend:

“Everything that l saw without the ball was everything I wanted from a Wigan Athletic player" he said."We need the exact same on Tuesday, It’s going to be a very different game, and we’ll play it very differently. I still want the same mentality and desire not to concede, and that has to be the level we reach every game.

“Oxford play very differently to the opponents at the weekend and can do a bit of both. We have to try and stop them from playing their game, and then we have to impose ourselves on the game. Being at home - we have to be as aggressive as we can be with the ball, and show the same desire without the ball.

“We’ll need specific players for this game but it boils down to mentality. If we show the same mentality, we’ve got a chance to win this game.”
