Women Face Ipswich In First Versus Second Clash

Oxford United Women travel to Ipswich Town Women this Sunday, the 2nd of April.

30 March 2023

Oxford United Women travel to Ipswich Town Women this Sunday, the 2nd of April, in what is a massive game at the summit of the FAWNL Southern Premier Division.

Kick off is at 2PM at the AGL Arena and tickets cost £6.50 for adults, £4.50 for over 65s, £2.50 for under 16s and FREE for under 5s.

Tickets can be purchased online HERE or on the day at the gate.

The Tractor Girls sit top of the Southern Premier Division with a two point gap on United, but the U’s have two games in hand; a win would send the U’s a point clear at the top.

Both sides go into the game in fine form, Ipswich having won seven games in a row and Oxford on their own five game winning streak.

Manager Liam Gilbert doesn’t want to put too much pressure on the game however

“If you look at how everything has gone throughout the year, they squad been really level headed in how we’ve approach everything, how they’ve reacted and how they’ve taken everything on board.

“We know Ipswich is potentially a big game but we are in a position where we don’t necessarily have to win, but that being said we know what we want to do, we know how we are going to go about things and we know our game plan.

“The character that we have is incredible. We won 2-0 on the weekend and it wasn’t out best performance but it was professional. The way the squad picked apart their own performance before we need to pick anything apart as coaching staff is very special.

“The reaction and the levels at training were brilliant, and that shows a group that are all together in everything we’re doing and that’s going to be important going forward and how the fixtures have played out; we’re going to need each other.

“They’re as good at home as we are at home. They’ve been pushing the game massively and hopefully it’s a really well attended game and it should be a real spectacle for what the league is and two really good teams going head to head".
