Midfielder James Henry summed up the mood in the dressing room this week when he spoke to iFollow ahead of Saturday’s game away at Lincoln City.
“There has been a big change and as players we played a part in that and have to accept some responsibility” he said. “But it’s a new regime and I am sure the club will sort the situation out quickly. While that’s happening we have a big game on Saturday and we have to try and get three points.
"Shorty, Leon and Browny have given us a bit of direction this week and hopefully it pays off at Lincoln.
“The boys have trained hard and right now we need that hard work and determination to get ourselves out of the situation we have got ourselves into.
“Everyone has a role to play. Some of us have been in this situation in our careers before. Certainly those of us who were here at Oxford four years ago were looking over our shoulders until we steered ourselves clear. We managed that and then progressed really well the next year and made it to the play-offs. That’s the sort of bounce back we need to have.
“Lincoln will be tough. They are unbeaten at home this season and full of confidence there but we will go and we will give it our all and hopefully come away with some points.
“I am sure the fans will be behind us. We all understand that it hasn’t been good enough this season and it has been difficult for them but we need them to back us and we have to do our best to give them something to get behind every game now, starting Saturday”
