Karl Looks Forward to Shrewsbury on Saturday

U's boss looks for team to bounce back

2 February 2023

Oxford United welcome Shrewsbury Town to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday looking to bounce back after a 2-1 defeat at home to Barnsley on Wednesday.

“We will recover right, prepare properly and we will be ready” Karl Robinson told iFollow today. “It’s the fourth game where we have had something like this where the other team haven’t had a game and have had a longer run up but you just deal with that

“We have to make sure the players recover both physically and mentally. Any game you don’t win obviously affects everyone so you have to make sure that is behind you as soon as possible.

“Life and football run parallel a lot of times. When you are going through a hard time the first people you turn to are your family and friends because they know you and will be honest with you. In football you need the same from your teammates and people around you; know they have your back, and we know we have that here.

“We are very together as a group of people and we know what we are doing. If things go against you then you have to learn from the experience. Look at yourself first, then look at those around you and see how we can make things better together”.

Cameron Brannagan is an injury doubt but Djavan Anderson should be available:

“Djavan’s partner had a baby this morning so we send our love” Karl said. “He missed training today, obviously, but hopefully they are all home sooner rather than later and he is the back with us sooner rather than later as well.

"Cameron had heavy contact with his hip and is struggling. We have been trying to get some mobility back into it for him but we’ll have to wait and see."
