PREVIEW Lincoln City v Oxford United

A full guide to Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 game

7 January 2022

Oxford United travel to Lincoln City in Sky Bet League 1 on Saturday (3pm)

TEAM NEWS
United welcome James Henry back into the squad after recovering ahead of schedule from a calf injury. Henry limped out of the warm up against Wigan just before Christmas but returned to training this week and travels with the squad today and is expected to play a part at the LNER Stadium.

Henry scored a hat trick in the 3-1 win over Lincoln in August, one of five wins from the last six games that United have played against the Imps.

THE OPPOSITION
Lincoln will be without Dan Nlundulu and Archie Mair who were yesterday recalled by their parent clubs.

Nlundulu returned to Southampton having been a regular part of Michael Appleton’s squad, and then signed for Cheltenham Town on loan until the end of the season, while Mair returned to his parent club Norwich City having also featured in a number of Imps matchday squads.

Lincoln haven’t had a game since Boxing Day where they were 2-0 up after eight minutes at home to MK Dons, only to lose 3-2 to a deflected goal in stoppage time.

Appleton said: “It sums up where we’re at right now - conceding a winner deep into time added on from a shot that was probably going to go out for a throw-in or corner. There’s a lot of good things about the game people will forget about because of what happened at the end."
