PREVIEW Morecambe v Oxford United

A full guide to tonight's game

5 April 2022

Oxford United head for Morecambe this evening in Sky Bet League 1 (7.45pm).

TEAM NEWS
United will look to bounce back after defeat at Plymouth on Saturday. James Henry, who came on as a sub to complete his return from injury, told iFollow after that game:

"It was a massively disappointing result but we had our chances early in the game and needed to make more of them. We can't let it affect us too much at this stage of the season and we will look to put it right on Tuesday night."

Henry will be hoping for a return to the starting eleven this evening but Elliott Moore remains a doubt after illness and the U's will follow the correct protocols after Cameron Brannagan was ruled out at Plymouth after a collision in training.

Marcus Browne, Sam Baldock, Alex Gorrin and Jamie Hanson remain sidelined although Hanson is making good progress after a week at St George's Park to speed his recovery.

THE OPPOSITION
Manager Derek Adams saw his side pick up three points on Saturday against Burton Albion and is hoping home support can help drive his side to escape relegation.

“There are other fixtures that affect us on Tuesday night as well, Gillingham don’t play and that is what we are looking at,” he said. “Three points gets us out of the drop zone and that is what we are targeting, we are trying to use that to our advantage, we respect and understand what Oxford United are about.

“We have got home advantage, the home supporters were here on Saturday in really good numbers once again, and it will be the same again on Tuesday.”

“I like Oxford, I always have done as a football club. They have a lot of individually talented players, they are a club that were in the Play-Offs last season. Karl Robinson has always got good technically gifted players and we will see that tomorrow night, we have to overcome them.”
