Oxford United’s James Henry’s outstanding form in August has seen him nominated for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month Award.
The comments from the judges are as follows:
James Henry (Oxford United) – midfielder
Henry has become accustomed to adapting his game to different Oxford systems, cutting in from the right to support the attack. His four goals in four August games included a first hat-trick for 11 seasons against Lincoln.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell (Sheffield Wednesday) – goalkeeper
The on-loan keeper conceded just one goal in five games for Wednesday. His underrated organisational skills impressed, but it was his shot-stopping that stood out, notably a brilliant penalty save in the 2-0 derby win at Rotherham.
Cole Stockton (Morecambe) – striker
Did any League One striker mean more to their team in August? Stockton led the Morecambe line and scored four of their six goals, including superb individual efforts at Ipswich and Gillingham when he ran around defenders before finishing.
Ryan Tunnicliffe (Portsmouth) - midfielder
Having flitted around since he left Manchester United in 2014, Tunnicliffe has been searching for a home. His driving midfield runs, three clever assists and a dynamic winner against Shrewsbury suggests he may have found it.
All winners will be announced on Friday 10th September
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
