Oxford United are pleased to announce Royal Cars have sponsored the Fence End at the Kassam Stadium for the 2021/22 season.
With installation completed last week, a large, eye-catching Royal Cars sign is now in place, with an innovative QR code included to allow you and visiting supporters to book your taxi to and from the stadium.
As with many local businesses, Royal Cars suffered during the pandemic and lost a significant number of drivers and customers. This made them re-assess their immediate aims and objectives. They found the most important aspect of their company is that they are a local family business.
Throughout the pandemic, the local taxi firm felt the need to develop their support of the city of Oxford by introducing various projects and incentives, from helping to raise taxi fares for key worker travel, to delivering food parcels to the vulnerable around the area.
The marketing team at Royal Cars took a similar approach but targeted local businesses by starting their #supportlocalox campaign. They utilised the expertise and equipment of their marketers by sending them to visit small, local businesses to conduct interviews and short videos to then promote those businesses on the popular Royal Cars social media platforms.
The initiative proved to be a great success and brought Royal Cars and the people of Oxford so much closer together as a community.
Marketing Director at Royal Cars, Ozayr Khan said of their support of the club, ''In line with #supportlocalox, we wanted to do the same with Oxford United and the supporters who have been long term users of our service. Football as a whole was different during the pandemic, and we wanted to help rebuild the glorious game back to how we know it.
“By reconnecting with the club commercially, we aim to reconnect the rides to and from the stadium and do our bit to get the fans back to watch football, safely. We have a few members of our staff who have been supporters of the club for over 30 years. After speaking to them and understanding the passion they have for the club, we knew this partnership will last a lifetime”.
Corporate Sales Executive at Oxford United, Adam Harris said, “It’s great to have the new Royal Cars banner now installed at the stadium. The prominent nature of it really catches the eye as you drive through the car park, and we encourage fans to try out the QR code to download the taxi app.
“The work everyone at Royal Cars have been doing over the last year to support the Oxfordshire community is a credit to them and we appreciate the efforts they’ve made to help many U’s fans during the pandemic, when people needed support”.
