Three second-half goals ensured that Oxford United Women continued their good form in the National League with a 3-0 win on the road at Cardiff Ladies this afternoon.
After a goalless first period, two goals from Daisy McLachlan and one for Beth Lumsden ensured United got the victory their performance deserved.
United started well and created their first chance when Carly Johns set up Rachel Panting but she was unable to finish. Panting had another chance to open the scoring just before half-time but was denied by a good save by the Cardiff keeper when through one-on-one.
United did take the lead on the hour mark when Riva Casley kept a corner alive and McLachlan pounced on the loose ball and finished.
It was two ten minutes from time when Lumsden finished coolly when sent through and just had the keeper to beat.
McLachlan helped herself to a second in the dying minutes, United’s third, when she ran from midfield and slotted home.
An excellent performance from Liam Gilbert’s side who will turn their focus back to cup action next week when they welcome Bridgwater in the National League Cup.
