Oxford United had to settle for a point in a 0-0 draw with Peterborough United last night but boss Karl Robinson was pleased to see his side match the league leaders in what turned out to be a fascinating 90 minutes
“I thought it was a fantastic game of football” he told iFollow. “I thought both sides were very good and we were excellent in so many aspects of our game.
"We were up against a side that has won its last six and we have now lost only twice in 17 matches so in the end it was a tremendous advert for League 1 football.
“No one’s handbrake was on, there were two managers with respect for each other and two good teams with total respect for each other. People might say ‘oh you’ve gone four without a win now’ but we have drawn away at MK and Ipswich who are on the up and home to the team top of the league. The one blot on the copybook was the silly goal we conceded two minutes after the break against Portsmouth here
“So from our point of view we are playing well. The goals will come, we know that, and the talking point will be an outstanding save from Jack Stevens right at the end. When he got Man of the Match I was surprised because I thought there were some excellent performances in front of him, but then two minutes later he made that save and whoever announced it must have seen the future!
“I thought we stopped Peterborough and defended well. There were two penalty shouts, one for each side, and those and Jack’s save right at the end will be the talking points but for 95 minutes I thought it was a very good game of football again.“
