Oxford United defender Rob Atkinson’s excellent season has gained further recognition with a place in the PFA’s Sky Bet League 1 Team of the Season.
The team is voted for by players in each division and caps a great first year with the U’s for Rob who was also previously voted in the official EFL League 1 Team of the Season
“It’s a great way to end the season” he told us. “It means a lot to be chosen by players in your division but to be named in both teams is recognition for the whole Oxford defence really because we work as a unit and were pretty solid all the way through.
“It’s nice to win awards, quite humbling, and I am very proud to accept it but the goal for all of us was promotion and we will come back looking to go one better and hopefully achieve that next time around.”
