Brand new in Banbury - Oxford United in the Community and Easington Sports launch summer football courses

16 July 2021

Following the announcement of the partnership between Oxford United’s official charity Oxford United in the Community and Easington Sports FC back in March, the partners have been working to develop a range of football and community-related activities for the people of Banbury to enjoy.

Today the partners are announcing a brand-new programme of holiday camps for summer 2021, taking place at Easington Sports FC’s base in Banbury for five days a week, Monday to Friday, on the weeks commencing 2nd August, 9th August and 23rd August.

The sessions will be packed with fun activities and are suitable for all children aged 4 to 13. The programme, designed by a qualified team of coaches from both partners. teaches new football skills and techniques while focusing on the development of agility, balance and coordination.

The emphasis is on the comfort, enjoyment and safety of all children, with all activities compliant with all regulations in force.

All Oxford United in the Community and Easington Sports FC coaches are FA qualified and have up to date safeguarding, first aid training and CRC checks.

Children are required to bring their own football kit, including shin-pads, boots, trainers, lunch and drinks. Plenty of fluids is essential for children as the weather warms up.

As this is the first programme of its kind, places are limited and will need to be secured quickly.

The partnership is using OUitC’s online booking platform, Official Soccer Schools, and payment in advance is required, please book here: https://bit.ly/ouitccamps

Pricing is £25 for a single day or £75 for a full five-day week.

One lucky participant from the three weeks will win a special prize of tickets to an Oxford United home match and a new season OUFC replica shirt once they are launched.

Chris Lowes, Head of Oxford United in the Community, said: “It is great to finally announce these holiday camps with our partners Easington Sports FC. We’ve done lots of work together since March and this programme of holiday camps is a major step for the partnership, which is going from strength to strength”.

“Our joint sessions are designed to keep children active and provide a boost to their wellbeing through football-based challenges that develop life skills including teamwork and communication. We really look forward to seeing everyone this summer in Banbury.”

Jamie Hunter Youth Chairman and Club Secretary at Easington Sports FC, said “We are delighted to be offering our camps in partnership with Oxford United in the Community. Our previous camps have been a great success and this proposal is another step in offering community-related activities for the people of Banbury, in partnership with OUitC”.

Oxford United in the Community is the football club’s official charity and helps inspire people to live happier and healthier lives in better connected communities using the power of football. Last year, the charity engaged with over 2,500 people in Oxfordshire.
