Oxford United’s Sean Clare has today completed a loan to Burton Albion for the rest of the season, subject to EFL approval.
Sean joined the U’s from Hearts this summer but having started the season as right-back has been in and out of the side more recently and often used further forward. As boss Karl Robinson explained, the loan will hopefully work to the benefit of all three parties.
“Sean is a terrific person to have around and he’s settled in very well with us off the field but things didn’t quite click for him as a right back, short-term.
“That can happen sometimes at a new club but I believe Burton see him playing more in midfield and that will hopefully allow him to get more regular game time, grow in confidence and show what a good player he can be. They have games against a lot of the top sides coming up so it’s a good chance for him and we will certainly monitor how he gets on very closely.”
