Oxford United would like to thank all of the parents, staff, friends and relatives of the players at the Oxford United Academy who have donated an incredible amount of kit for distribution to our friends in Sierra Leone.
All age groups within the Academy were asked whether they had any kit, boots, training tops or other items that maybe their aspiring young footballers no longer used, and the response was amazing.
Today Alan Wolstencroft came to the Training Ground and collected six large boxes of kit which he will send across to be used in schools and projects in Sierra Leone once it is safe to do so.
He told us
“It’s been an amazing response. I have been working with Peter Rhoades-Brown and the club for 12 years now and we have been supplying old kit to Sierra Leone where people are hugely grateful each time.
"During Lockdown I think a few people will have been having a sort out and will have football shirts and shorts which they are wondering what to do with. That’s what the Academy were doing and we look forward to sending everything out to Africa where I know it will make such a difference and really help put a smile on people’s faces”
