Oxford United Women face Keynsham Town Ladies in the National League at the AJN Stadium this Sunday at 2pm after an impressive 2-0 win against a previously unbeaten Billericay Town in the cup last weekend.
“I back us all the way”, said Captain Lauren Haynes regarding winning the League Cup. “We have a great group of background staff that help us put in really professional performances and we look to only get stronger with each game”.
Keynsham Town have had a shaky start to the season but have recently picked up form. Currently sitting 9th in the league, the team lost 9-0 back to back but have since won their last three games and will be looking to prove a point against Oxford.
A win for United would keep the pressure on the league leaders and give the players belief that promotion is still on the cards.
“We have mentality within the team that whatever game we play we are determined to win, no matter the team or competition”, manager Liam Gilbert commented, “I was really proud of their attitude after the FA Cup loss and how they approached the training sessions and the game. They worked immensely hard to bounce back and that showed in the game, how we relentlessly pressed and were able to dictate the tempo of the game. Hopefully we take that in to Sunday's game”
