Oxford United Women’s preparations for the new season are almost complete with the signing of midfielder Merrick Will.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder joins the new look U’s squad from London Bees where she was for four years and was also club captain.
"For the next step in my career I wanted a club that matched my ambition. I really like the environment and the atmosphere that the players and the staff bring, the club as a whole really. The standards here are really high” she said.
“I hope I bring some Championship experience. I’m a midfielder so I’m more creative. In the attacking midfield role, I hope I can join in with some of the attacking players we’ve got here that I’m really excited to play with."
Manager Liam Gilbert told us
“Merrick is an outstanding signing for us. She has played in a higher league and at 25 has so much experience which will help what is still a fairly young squad. She had a knee injury which she has worked really hard to get back from, which has shown the determination and character she will bring to our set up and we can’t wait to work with her.”
Merrick joins as United prepare for their first game of the new National League season this Sunday when they welcome Gillingham to Court Place Farm (2pm)
