iFollow Explained

Over the last few years the role of iFollow has changed considerably and with the first league game of the season almost upon us we feel we need to explain how iFollow will work for the coming season.

All EFL clubs were consulted and a decision was taken not to stream Saturday 3pm games in the UK as it was felt there might be an effect on crowds at matches.

If the last 18 months have shown us anything, it is that there is nothing like LIVE football. iFollow is a valuable service to fans but is no substitute for the real thing. We look forward to seeing crowds again, can’t wait for the passion of our supporters, and we are fortunate to have a fantastic following that will understand the importance of being at games and supporting not just the team but the club. If you can, then be at the games because it is your support that drives the team forward.

However, football has changed over the last 18 months and for the coming season, in the UK:

  • Subject to the season continuing as ‘normal’ all scheduled midweek and Bank Holiday matches will be streamed via iFollow.
  • If a game is postponed on a Saturday and rescheduled for midweek it is at the discretion of the HOME club whether it is streamed
  • League 1 matches played on an International Weekend CANNOT be streamed (Championship games can)
  • Carabao Cup matches are not eligible for streaming domestically or internationally
  • FA Cup matches are subject to FA approval
  • Papa John’s Trophy matches WILL be streamed on club websites/apps (with the exception of the semi finals and final)

International Streaming
All matches are eligible for international streaming unless shown live in the UK on Sky Sports (which is also passed to international broadcasters).
