U's at Full Strength for AFC Wimbledon Test

Karl Robinson looks ahead to Tuesday

Oxford United have a fully fit squad to choose from as they head fo AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night.

The U’s came from 2-0 down to beat Gillingham on Saturday but had to do it without Mark Sykes and Brandon Barker who should both be part of the squad that travels to Wimbledon’s brand new stadium for the first time.

“We have a full squad to choose from” Karl Robinson told iFollow today. “John Mousinho is away on a coaching course so there is nobody in the treatment room. Mark Sykes and Brandon Barker are fit to start and we have a full squad, but AFC Wimbledon have as well. I think both sides have scored 23 or 24 goals in the last six games, a tremendous return so it’s two teams in really good form. That’s credit to their staff who have turned it around. I’m sure one or two Oxford fans want to thank them for the weekend’s result as well. It was a good Saturday for Oxford fans!

“We have four games left and we are the same group of people that started the season. We have found a little bit of form to go with our togetherness. We have found ways to win games and when we play well there are not many teams that can beat us. But now if we don’t play well and get stopped like on Saturday then we answered a question: can we find a different way to win? We did it on Saturday and we now have a calmness and a patience and I think we have evolved to be able to play in slightly different ways when we need to. It’s set up a nice end to the season and it keeps everything interesting for us and for the fans.

“We have been chasing the play-off places but getting there on Saturday is irrelevant. This is game two in a block of five matches. Our passion has shown in recent weeks but there is a planning and level of detail in our preparation as well. So we know what we have to do and we will just work in our usual way for each of the remaining games.”
