Match preview for Hounslow Women v Oxford United Women

U's look to build on Wasps win this

8 October 2020

Oxford United Women look to keep up the winning momentum with a trip to Hounslow this Sunday (2pm KO).

Fresh from an impressive 3-1 victory against Crawley in front of home support last weekend, Manager Liam Gilbert said:

“We’ll prepare the same as usual; we have watched back our footage from the weekend and identified the areas where we can be a little bit sharper and we will put that into practice throughout this week.

“It’s been a completely different week compared to last week where we were really keen on watching the girls’ workload, whereas this week we’ve been able to get back to our usual Tuesday-Thursday training sessions.”

With no new injuries to report, plus the return of influential midfielders Kayleigh Hines and Daisy McLachlan in last weekend’s contest against Crawley, United will travel to Hounslow in a strong position for the challenge at hand this weekend.

Supporters who are looking to make the trip to Hounslow’s Tithe Farm Sports & Social Club (HA2 0XH) this weekend can purchase tickets online HERE. Alternatively, contactless card payments can be made on the gate, with adult’s tickets priced at £3 while U16s can get in for free.

The story of the season so far has been very different for the two sides who’ll lock horns this weekend, United currently sitting in second place in the Women’s National League table as a result of wins against Gillingham, MK Dons and most recently Crawley Wasps last weekend. However, Hounslow have endured different fortunes, with the West London club currently sitting in 12th place and winless in four league games – Hounslow’s most recent fixture ended in a 4-0 loss away at MK Dons.

Hounslow’s One to Watch: Danielle Maloney
This weekend’s opponent’s ‘One to Watch’ is summer signing Danielle Maloney, formerly of Watford Women. Having linked up with her new club at the start of last month, Maloney has since captained the Hounslow side this season – the defender having previous experience of captaining Watford’s Under-23s also.
