Grundon get behind the U's against Northampton

14 December 2020

Oxford United are delighted to once again be teaming up with long-term supporters Grundon Waste Management for the 2020/21 season who are our Match Sponsors when we take on Northampton Town on Tuesday evening.

Grundon, who are the UK’s largest family-owned waste management and environmental services company, have a relationship with the club stretching back over a decade.

Grundon provide a total waste management service which includes the collection, treatment, and recycling of commercial waste, including hazardous and clinical wastes. Formed in 1929, they are also a leading supplier of sands and aggregates to the building, construction, landscaping, decorative and leisure markets.

During their first few years of supporting the club, Grundon sponsored the club’s fledgling women’s team, as well as investing in the club’s youth development as the sponsors of the Girl’s Centre of Excellence.

Over the last ten years, Grundon have also partnered with United to promote the importance of recycling and waste management, with former players such as John Lundstram, Joe Skarz and Callum O’Dowda joining club legend Peter Rhoades-Brown to help spread the word. This included the launch of a ‘Recycling Week’ competition which youngsters from Cholsey Primary School took part in. The children, aged between five and eleven, were asked to design a poster promoting recycling at the school and to write about waste and recycling, with the lucky winners and their families getting to watch their heroes at the Kassam.

Grundon have regularly been match day sponsors over the last ten years, and as a local business are always proud of supporting United.

Headquartered in Benson, near Wallingford, Grundon have had a local presence in Oxfordshire since 1946, when the company’s Sand & Gravel operations opened its first quarry in Ewelme.

Since then the business has grown with company now operating across the county with a depot in Banbury and its Hazardous Waste Transfer Station and depot operations in Ewelme.

Earlier this year, Grundon Sand & Gravel opened its New Barn Farm quarry near Cholsey. The 66-acre site provides gravel and variety of sands for the building, construction, leisure and landscaping sectors, as well as selling directly to the general public. Grundon operate an ‘open door’ policy at all of their quarries, welcoming you to pay a visit us to view their extensive aggregates product range, all of which are available to purchase directly from the weighbridge office – no matter the quantity of product required
