Oxford United are very proud to be supporting our good friends at Newtrim UK who are offering fans a chance to order and send face shields to people they believe will benefit most from them right now.
Newtrim are big supporters of the U’s and usually specialise in automotive car trimming but the coronavirus outbreak has meant a switch in production at their Oxfordshire base.
Newtrim spoke with a surgeon and came up with a design for a face shield/visor to help those in need of PPE. Staff volunteered to help produce them and over 1,500 were sent out last week.
Now they are offering the chance for Oxford fans, safely at home, to send a Shield to a Hero.
So many individuals and small organisations and charities have contacted Newtrim, desperate for PPE protection but with little or no funds to purchase.
So why not buy them for them?
A £5 donation will buy one shield which will be sent to those in most need.
Neil Woodcock of Newtrim told us:
“We are in the fortunate position of having a factory which we could adapt to produce the visors and our volunteers have been amazing in producing them. We have donated a few but want to donate many more. We have had so many requests from small charities, care homes and local people; we know what a difference the visors will make and at the same time we talked to a lot of people who are maybe feeling a bit helpless; they want to help but can’t find a way of getting involved.
“So we set up this scheme because it’s simple to use and will genuinely help. If people want to buy a visor then make a donation and we will make sure the shields get to the right place. And if there is a specific person or group you think deserves help with their PPE then tell us how many shields you would like to send them and we will do our best to make it happen.”
