Continuing our series talking to the stars of the Oxford United Women’s team we catch up with winger Daisy McLachlan, the scorer of United’s last goal in the 19/20 season…
What item can you not live without?
“Money!”
If you were stuck on a desert island with one of your teammates, who would you pick to be with you?
“I’d probably choose Cat [Beaver], because she would have a survival kit on her or would know how to survive as she’s been in the RAF.”
Who’s your favourite music artist and why?
“I’d say Burna Boy; he’s good vibes.”
And what genre of music has you reaching for the off switch?
“I like pretty much all genres, although I’d have to say Screamo music – I just don’t get it.”
What footballer have you always looked up to?
“It would either have to be Ronaldinho because he’s so skilful or Didier Drogba. In his prime, Drogba was the best striker in the Premier League.
When did you play your first professional game?
“It’s got to be for Portsmouth, but I can’t remember who it was against.”
Where do you see yourself in five years?“
Hopefully in a higher league with Oxford, having been promoted.”
Have you ever thought about playing in a different position?
“Yeah, I used to play number 10 beforehand, so I have played there was well as on the wing.”
Do you have any pre-game superstations?
“No, I don’t have any to be honest. I choose not to have superstitions because then if something doesn’t work you can’t really follow it again.”
Who’s the loudest in the dressing room?
“I’m torn between Amber Roberts and Georgia Clifford, but I think I’ll have to go with Georgia. She’s pretty loud – she likes to sing.”
And who is the first person you call after a game?
“Probably my mum; as long as it’s not away she is normally at the game but has to go before I see her at the end, so I just give her a call to see what she thought.”
When you win the lottery, what’s the first thing that you will buy?
“A Lamborghini Urus, they always look great when I see them on the road.”
What activity is top of your bucket list?
“I’d really like to go to Cancún in Mexico, that would be sick.”
