Oxford United striker Jonte Smith has been called up by Bermuda for their Concacaf Nations qualifying against the Dominican Republic on March 24.
Jonte joined the U’s from Lewes on deadline day in January and made his first team debut away at Blackpool after continuing his excellent scoring record in the under 23 side.
The 24-year-old forward told us:
“I am enjoying life at Oxford and have been made to feel very welcome. I am working very hard and it's a great feeling to be called up -I am very proud to represent my country and cant wait for that experience again.”
Jonte joins Gavin Whyte in being called up, with Gavin joining the Northern irish squad on the same weekend, while youngsters Aaron Heap and Niall Clayton were last week called into the Wales under 21 training camp.
Jonte and Gavin will not be available for our game away at Coventry City as a result of their call ups.
