Oxford United are saddened to hear of the death of our former Chairman Robin Herd who died on Wednesday after fighting bravely against cancer for some years.
Robin enjoyed a successful career in Formula 1 before taking over as owner of the U’s in 1995.
Under his guidance the club won promotion to the second tier with Denis Smith and Malcolm Crosby building an exciting young side featuring local boys Joey Beauchamp and Chris Allen as well as Manor legends such as Matt Elliott, Phil Gilchrist and Paul Moody.
Robin left the club in 1998 but is fondly remembered by all at the club and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
