Women Visit Newman Trust

Players spend time at local charity

31 July 2019

Oxford United Women visited The Newman Trust on Tuesday to spend time with children with disabilities and special needs.

New signings Carly Johns and Georgia Clifford alongside Cheryl Williams and women’s manager Liam Gilbert, gave up their afternoon to spend time with the charity who provide holidays for over 120 children with disabilities and special needs each year.

The players spent an hour with the children playing football with the boys and girls and took time to chat to them after the session before getting together for a group photo.

Liam Gilbert said:

“It was a great afternoon at The Newman Trust. It was fantastic to see Georgia, Carly and Cheryl come down and make the children’s day by playing football and chatting with them all. It’s a wonderful charity who provide so much to the kids here, and it was great to be able to give something back and help the volunteers who make all of this possible.”

You can find out more information about the brilliant work the charity does at www.newmantrust.org

Carly Johns signed for the U's Women first team this morning after progressing through the RTC. Cheryl Williams' return to the squad was also announced over on the Women's Twitter page @OfficialOUWFC
