With the season starting next week it has been a very busy off season for Oxford United’s Virtual teams with changes to the first team and the Oxford United esports academy.
The Oxford United esports first team, who represent the U's in online leagues, have had a change of Manager. Gavin Buckett who runs Oxford United Esports told us
“The first team did well last season in the virtual pro gaming Premier League but I just felt a change was needed and after a few weeks of making a shortlist of possible new managers one name stood out. We are delighted to announce Jake Warner as the new esports Manager. After a chat with Jake it was an easy choice. Jake comes to Oxford after four seasons at Queens Park Rangers esports and Swansea vpg.”
"I have been in VPG now for about 24 months and it’s an honour to be manager of Oxford United eSports as the club really seem to be interested in the whole eSports scene. It has given me a new project and a fresh challenge in the vital pro gaming world .”
“The aim for this season would definitely have to be an improve on last season’s finish; hopefully to push on in to the top half of the table and have a good cup run " .
Jake will be joined at the club by Jamie Dalton and Ronan Downie who will help Jake and the club push on in the esports Premier League. One of Jake's first new signings was Nathan Lay who returns to Oxford United esports for a second spell with the club.
