Sinclair Looks Forward to Sunderland Reunion

Striker set for home debut against the Black Cats

5 February 2019

Oxford United striker Jerome Sinclair gets an early chance to face his former team this Saturday when the U’s welcome Sunderland to the Kassam Stadium.

Jerome spent the first half of the season on loan at the Black Cats from Watford before switching to the U’s a week ago. After making his debut at Burton on Saturday the 22-year-old forward now gets a chance to impress at home

“I think it’s going to be a good game between two good sides” he told us. “I was injured and didn’t play in the game at Sunderland but I watched it and thought Oxford looked like a really good team. The lads beat Portsmouth and then Barnsley in the last two games here so we definitely have the ability to get another big win.”

“I enjoyed my time at Sunderland. It is the focus for the whole area so you are always under scrutiny. It did take me by surprise a little bit if I’m totally honest.

“I knew it was a big club but it’s only when you play for them you really appreciate it. A 40,000 seater stadium and the fans care so passionately so the club is always in people's minds, all around the town. But I felt privileged to play for the club and their fanbase is huge so we know they will have a great support on Saturday and it will be a good game.”

You can read the full interview with Jerome in Saturday’s match programme.

It’s going to be the biggest league crowd of the season and seats are starting to sell out in some areas now as we head towards a crowd of over 10,000

A reminder that there will be no tickets on sale on the day, so book today to avoid missing out. Just visit oufctickets.co.uk or call 01865 337533 to book your seat.
