Big Ron and Peter Foley Join The Celebrations

Stars of the past join us for the 125th celebrations

28 September 2018

Two more Oxford United legends have confirmed that they will be joining us for our 125th Anniversary Celebration

Formed on 27th October 1893 in The Britannia pub in Headington, our home match with Shrewsbury Town marks the exact day the club was formed, and this anniversary will be celebrated with two great events.

That evening there will be a fantastic black tie event where a specially selected group of club legends will  join us at the Sheldonian Theatre and Bodleian Library.

With tables from each decade, we are proud to announce that our iconic former captain Ron Atkinson and Manor favourite striker Peter Foley will be joining Mark Creighton, Ryan Clarke, Les Robinson, Roy Burton, Milk Cup winning captain Malcolm Shotton, John Shuker and Joey Beauchamp for what is sure to be a night full of great memories.

The night, which will be hosted by Jim Rosenthal, will include live interviews with the club legends, a drink and canape reception at the world famous Sheldonian Theatre, and a superb three course meal in the Weston Library, part of the Bodleian Library and one of Oxford’s most iconic venues, followed by an auction of memorabilia.

Following the theme of the decades, companies or individuals can sponsor a decade and host the two legends from that decade on their table for the evening.

This night really will be celebrating our history to support our future, with all profits from the evening going directly into funding the Academy.
