Rothwell Raring To Go

Midfielder in the frame as United welcome Scunthorpe

28 March 2018

Oxford United welcome Joe Rothwell, Isaac Buckley-Ricketts and Canice Carroll back into the squad as they go in to two big games over the Easter weekend.

The U’s welcome Scunthorpe United to the Kassam Stadium on Good Friday in front of the SKY cameras and then travel to high-flying Shrewsbury on Bank Holiday Monday.

Rothwell was a surprise substitute at Portsmouth last weekend when he returned after a five week lay off with a hamstring problem.

“I was happy to be out there again” he told iFollow earlier today. “I trained last week and knew I had a chance of being involved at Portsmouth and hopefully I can play a bigger role between now and the end of the season. Friday is a big game for us and there should be a great atmosphere so I’m really looking forward to being involved at home once again.”

With Buckley-Ricketts and Carroll flying back today and due to train tomorrow new boss Karl Robinson has plenty of options but he will be without midfielder Alex Mowatt after his red card at Fratton Park and striker Gino van Kessel who picked up a hamstring problem while playing for Curacao this week.

See Joe Rothwell and Karl Robinson in exclusive videos in iFollow right now plus a full preview Show featuring Malachi Napa.
