Oxford United’s under-18 side play a prestigious friendly against Chelsea away tonight.
The youth team have been invited to take on Chelsea’s under 18 side in a friendly organised by Surrey FA to mark the opening of a new training facility close to Chelsea’s Cobham training base.
Coach Leon Blackmore-Such told us:
“It’s great to be asked to play in the game and will be fantastic experience for our players. We have nine new faces and for them to take on Chelsea is obviously going to open their eyes to the standard required at the very top of the game. It’s also great that our own youth system is held in such regard that we are invited to play in the game.
“Pre-season for the under 18s is all about setting the right tone, settling in and adjusting to life as a full time footballer so we think the schedule we have will be great preparation for a successful season.”
