Women Complete Their Squad For the Season

Familiar faces return as United prepare for new season

17 August 2018

Oxford United Women kick off their new season at Chichester this weekend and have completed their summer signings with the arrival of seven further players including the welcome return of a couple of very familiar faces

Manager Liam Gilbert talked us through the new faces:

 Lauren Allison

I am excited to have Lauren back at the club. She is a brilliant player and her attitude and experience will be invaluable for our younger players to learn from. “Loz” has an eye for goal and I know a lot of people at the club are looking forward to watching her play again.

 Lucy Durham

Lucy is a young player who has a lot of potential. She is a very technically gifted footballer and I am looking forward to seeing how Lucy progresses over the course of the season.

 Rebecca Moody

Rebecca joins us from Portsmouth Women. This is Rebecca’s second stint with Oxford United Women. She is an intelligent player who reads the game well and organises players around her.

 Isobel Newns

“Issy” is a player that joined the development team half way through last season. Having just turned 17 Issy is another player who I am looking forward to working with again. Issy knows the challenge in front of her and what the step up will be for her this season, I expect her to be challenging for a starting spot by Christmas.

 Lena Stroem

Lena is another player who has a bright future. She has come through the club's RTC system and has represented the ISFA up to U18 level. I know Lena very well as a player and I know the drive and desire she has to make a mark this season.

 Lois Colley

Lois joined Oxford United halfway through last season and due to some bad luck with injuries was unable to play as many games as we would have liked. Lois is hoping to make a change this year and become one of the regular players pulling on the shirt for the club.

 Steph Mobbs

Steph re-joins Oxford United after spending the last couple of seasons with Oxford City. I have been impressed with Steph’s composure in possession and the way she has played throughout pre-season, striking up a really good partnership with Lauren Haynes.
