It’s a big week for Oxford United’s under 16s.
The youngsters were last week crowned as Champions of the South West Division after beating Yeovil Town 2-0.
On Saturday they face AFC Wimbledon, Champions in the South East Division in the Southern semi-final to play against the top Northern team in their age group in a national final. Shrewsbury Town take on Hartlepool United in the other semi-final.
Kieran Hayes, Lead Coach for the under 12s to 16s in the Oxford United Academy told us:
“It’s a fantastic achievement by everyone involved; the players, the coaches and everyone who has supported and helped the team this season.
“Last week’s win means they win the league, which is great, and now we want them to go out there and enjoy playing Wimbledon on Saturday. As with all the age groups, we have some really promising players coming through at the club and things like this just emphasise that and highlight the great work that goes on.”
