Faz's Rovers Return

Derek Fazackerley on facing his former club

20 November 2017

Tuesday night is a big game for Oxford United when we welcome Blackburn Rovers in Sky Bet League 1.

But it’s a special night for First Team Coach Derek Fazackerley who made over 600 appearances for Rovers as well as spending time on the coaching staff at Ewood Park.

“I have some great memories as a player there and of going back there as a coach” he told iFollow earlier. “Sadly the club has had a tough time over the last few years and subsequently are in League 1 with us this season. It’s still a big club though and one with huge ambition to bounce back this year. They are among the favourites to go back up; I don’t know where they are budget-wise but they have a lot of the players they had in the Championship and they have started the season in similar vein to us and have a couple of games in hand.

“They will certainly be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. So the game on Tuesday is going to be difficult but obviously it’s one we’d like to win. A win would put us above them and on the back of the result at Plymouth that would be a good start.

“We have done it a couple of times where we have had a good win away then not been able to back it up at home. But generally speaking against the better teams in the league we have performed quite well and hopefully we can do the same on Tuesday night.”

See the full interview including Faz’s thoughts on John Mousinho’s performance as Captain and an injury update on Gino van Kessel and Agon Mehmeti, plus we also have a chat with another former Blackburn player, Simon Eastwood, all in iFollow, with the whole game to follow LIVE.

Join us on Tuesday night. Tickets are available from oufctickets.co.uk and from 01865 337533
