U's to take on the Premier League Champions at the Kassam Stadium

Oxford United are delighted to announce that they will be playing Leicester City, the champions of England, in a pre-season friendly at the Kassam Stadium.

The newly promoted U’s will welcome the Foxes on Tuesday 19th July, with kick off at 7.45pm.

It is Leicester’s only confirmed friendly in England this summer and also United’s only home pre-season friendly.

Head Coach Michael Appleton said

“It’s a fantastic game for us and one I know the fans will be very excited about. What Leicester achieved this season was unbelievable and I’d like to thank them for agreeing to play us. They will be sending a full squad and have also agreed to let us have all of the gate receipts which is a terrific gesture.

“It’s a chance for us to test ourselves against the very best in the country and I’m sure there will be another massive crowd for what promises to be a really entertaining game of football.”

Full ticket details will be announced very soon but put the date in your diary; Oxford United v Leicester City, Tuesday 19th July.

Our thanks to club sponsors Liontrust who have agreed to sponsor Oxford United's pre-season. Liontrust's Simon Hildrey said

"We are proud to be extending our partnership with Oxford United by sponsoring the pre-season game against Leicester City. Liontrust and the club had a fantastic first season of our sponsorship and playing the Premier League champions is the perfect build-up to the new season in League One.

"We and the club look forward to announcing further exciting news about the pre-season shortly."
