A full preview as United conclude their pre-season tour
Oxford United conclude their Spanish pre-season tour with a game against UD Marbella this evening (7pm)
The U’s take on the Spanish third division side at their La Cala training base and have a full strength side to choose from. Benji Buchel is available again after tonsillitis, Aaron Martin has recovered from a slight groin problem and Liam Sercombe and Wes Thomas stand by after treatment on minor injuries earlier in the week.
New signings Chris Maguire and Joe Rothwell are both likely to be involved after doing well in pre-season with Michael Appleton likely to repeat the pattern of Tuesday night’s win where he changed most of the team after an hour to give everyone game time.
“Tuesday was good for fitness” Michael told Yellow Player HD “and we’ll give most of the lads some minutes on the pitch tonight. Those who played 90 minutes on Tuesday did so in real heat so we’ll be sensible and make sure everyone gets the amount of work that they need at this stage of pre-season.
“The games we’ve played so far have been good and we want to carry that on. We play Leicester at home on Tuesday which is going to be a massive test for us, but we approach every game the same way in pre-season, just looking to help us get ready foe the first league game on August 6th”
