"Now is the Time" Appleton urges fans to get behind the U's

U's look to use Wembley as motivation for final league push

With Wembley done and dusted Oxford United now face the six most important games of the season.

The U’s remain second in Sky Bet league 2 and travel to Crawley on Saturday determined to keep their outstanding away record going. For Head Coach Michael Appleton it is a chance to get the JPT Final out of the way and start the last six games as the U’s mean to go on:

“I was over it pretty quickly” he told Yellow Player HD . “It was disappointing to lose; losing any game does my head in. But the reality is we went toe to toe with a good side. I thought we played better as a team but their big players had better moments on the day. It could have gone either way; we edged the first half, they did the second, but now it’s how we bounce back.

“We have been really good at that all season and I’m sure will be pumped up for Saturday. The games are dwindling and we are getting close to the finishing line. It looks like two teams from four for the places at the moment and it is going to be exciting. I can’t see Wembley having any effect other than positive.”

Crucially, United have three remaining home games against Luton Town, Hartlepool, and Wycombe Wanderers and the club is asking as many fans as possible to get behind the team at the Kassam Stadium for those matches

“We massively need the fans” Michael said. “The games are all going to be tight and the fans will make the difference on the day.

“On the days when this place has been full it has made a huge difference for us. There are going to be ups and down in every match and that’s when the fans come to the fore. If we concede a goal they need to get behind us and lift us.

“Even if we had won on Sunday I can’t see that I would have celebrated in the way that I will if we get the job done over the next six games. These games mean ten times more than a one off match at Wembley and we are going to need the fans for each of the matches we have left.”
