It’s 30 years this week since Oxford United won the Milk Cup at Wembley, beating QPR 3-0 on the greatest day in the club’s history so far.The stars of 86 will be with us again on Saturday when the current U’s take on Hartlepool United at the Kassam Stadium, and to mark the occasion we have come up with a fantastic collectors’ item of a matchday programme.
The multi-award winning matchday magazine has been restyled, for this game only, with a special cover that reflects the programme from Wembley. There are interviews with legendary defenders Malcolm Shotton and Gary Briggs, a poster of the team, and for the first time ever we have analysed the stats from that day: just who did have the most shots/passes/headers for the U’s?
We go On the Road to Wembley 86, commentator Nick Harris looks back at the day, and the current U’s team pay tribute to their predecessors.
